Reliable quality since 1904
The company was founded in January 1904 by the Düsseldorf entrepreneur Heinrich de Fries as a GmbH. Initially, the company de Fries + Co. Hebezeugfabrik was the sole distributor for the then well-known Stella hoists.
With a high level of reliability and quality awareness, the company quickly earned the excellent reputation it has maintained to this day as a manufacturer and sales partner. When the company founder died five years later, his closest colleague and confidante, Wilhelm Pützer, took over the company and successfully guided it through the economic turmoil of the time.
“Our most precious possession is the trust placed in HADEF hoists.”

Robust and reliable – quality from Germany
In 1949, after the end of the Second World War, HADEF also completely dismantled its operating facilities. The successful reconstruction of the company began immediately on the swept premises at Gauss Str.
Be innovative and flexible to remain constant – this credo also applied in the 1950s and 1960s. At that time, HADEF was able to assert itself against the competition with inventions such as the well-known “short design” chain hoists and the first small electric hoist with a load capacity of 150 kilograms.
It was him who successfully introduced the brand name HADEF and the symbol “man with the stones” and then also started the in-house production of hoists and cranes. In 1922, Wilhelm Pützer acquired a 60,000 square meter property in the Flingern district of Düsseldorf – the company’s headquarters to this day.
This was the decisive step that ensured fast and continuous growth in the difficult times of upheaval.
Wilhelm Pützer died in 1931 and his heirs Wilhelm, Hans and Maria Uebel, née Pützer, took over the further development of the company.
Certified quality
HADEF relied on the possibilities of computer-aided production and administration at an early stage. HADEF was one of the first companies in the industry in Germany to achieve certification of the quality management system by the inspection company DNV (Det Norske Veritas).
With extension buildings and modernization measures at the Düsseldorf location in the years 2004 to 2013, including the construction of a new 125-ton natural weight test stand, the capacities for further growth were secured.
